WCN Funding Reduced by June 2010

We would like to thank to all our supporters for their generous support of our campaign to retain dedicated funding for Wellington Community NET (WCN) in Wellington City Council’s Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP).

Wellington ICT used a number of different approaches to try to persuade the Council to reverse its decision to withdraw its ongoing dedicated funding for WCN, a free website hosting service for Wellington-based community groups. We have written letters to the Councillors, made presentations to WCC management, attended Council deliberations and filed an e-petition.

Wellington ICT (WICT) is the brand name for the Wellington Region 2020 Communications Trust. WICT is a not-for-profit Trust set up to help communities and community organisations gain an entry into the e-World.

Wellington ICT is part of a group of '2020' Trusts all of which serve a similar purpose.

Do you know about our Wellington Community Net (WCN), a website hosting service for community groups and organisations? Wellington ICT manages and operates this FREE service which is funded and supported by the Wellington City Council (WCC).
 
Whanau Link - Phase Three
The Whanau Link project has been extended to include Te Rangimarie's outreach in Hawera. This completes work on Phase Three. The focus is now on the preliminary scoping exercise for Phase Four (nationwide rollout).
 
 

Breaking News

Wellington ICT recently submitted expressions of interest in securing grants from the Digital Strategy's Community Partnership Fund for THREE new projects. Two of these resulted in invitations to submit applications for funding on projects associated with our e-Rider service.
